Grants
The Rev. Zacharia Diing Akol, MDiv. 2010, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. A two-month immersion in South Sudan, exploring the relationship between church and culture and South Sudanese spirituality.
Andrea Baker and son, MDiv. 2010, Church Divinity School of the Pacific. Planning and implementation of a summer church camp in Honduras, with a trip in summer '09 for language and culture training plus initial planning, and a trip in summer '10 for the camp.
Andrea Bardelmeier, MDiv. 2010, Princeton Theological Seminary. Development and implementation of a pilot Episcopal premarital counseling program, to strengthen marriage and bring young adults to church.
The Rev. Dr. Paula Barker, Faculty, Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. A 4.5 month tour in Ghana, to lead a spirituality workshop, consult on religion curriculum development at a new university, and teach at St. Nicholas seminary.
Andy Barnett and Sarah Politz, MDiv. 2012 and partner, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. Development and implementation of faith-based environmental stewardship at Yale Divinity School by studying sustainable agriculture at the Asian Rural Institute in Japan.
Hilary Boller, MAR, MBA 2012, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. A three-week immersion and mission trip to the Diocese of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, to contribute to a communications project and develop a case study on companion relationships.
The Very Rev. Joseph Britton, Faculty, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. A three-week immersion into the life of St. Nicholas Seminary in Ghana, to formalize an exchange relationship between the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale and St. Nicholas.
The Rev. Emmanuel Bwatta, MA 2010, Sewanee. An eleven-week preaching and teaching tour to promote lay ministry in the Diocese of Western Tanzania.
Mary Crist, Ph. D., MDiv. 2012, Bloy House. Development and implementation of a training workshop for lay leaders of three Alaskan villages, and implementation of a weekly distance-learning Bible study.
Suzanne Ehly, Staff, Episcopal Divinity School. To develop and lead a series of workshops exploring voice, breath and body, and developing practices of radical self-care, for young adult participants in the Diocese of Massachusetts vocational internship programs.
Anne Emry, MDiv. 2010, Church Divinity School of the Pacific. An internship with a renowned liturgical artist, development of a portfolio, and the development and execution of a large-scale project for Pentecost in the applicant's field parish.
Deirdre Good, Ph.D., Faculty, General Theological Seminary. Development and offering of an interfaith (Jewish/Christian) workshop in NYC of musical performance and explanation of Psalms and Canticles.
Hilary Greer, MDiv. 2011, Episcopal Divinity School. A six-week internship with REACH Rwanda, including development and delivery of trauma-counselling training to REACH staff and development of educational materials for ER-D about relief and development work in Rwanda. Spiritual habits training to be delivered to EDS community.
Karen Haig, MDiv. 2010, Church Divinity School of the Pacific. A five-week language and mission program in Panama, including the development of an adult curriculum on Baptismal Ecclesiology for use in Latino ministry contexts.
Debbie Hawkins, MDiv. 2009, Church Divinity School of the Pacific. To lead a mission trip of youth and young adults from two parishes in California to El Salvador, continuing prior mission work and strengthening the companion relationship.
Meredith Holt, MDiv. 2010, Virginia Theological Seminary. A two-three week teaching internship at Msalato Theological College, Dodoma, Tanzania.
Deborah Hughes-Habel, MDiv. 2010, Seminary of the Southwest. Immersion in the Moab Valley Muticultural Center in Utah to study the cultural practices of the Spanish-speaking Episcopal Church, and development of a set of best practices for Hispanic ministry.
Eric Hungerford and Stephen Kidd, MDiv. 2010, Seminary of the Southwest. Immersion in Southern Malawi; documentation and filming of domestic and Malawian participants in the partnership; production of a documentary promorting global partnerships as a means to fight global poverty.
Kirk LaFon, MDiv. 2010, Sewanee. To attend the Contextual Theology Programme at COTT and to contribute teaching and service-learning skills in a focused internship.
Vivian Lam, MDiv. 2009, Church Divinity School of the Pacific. To attend Sabeel's young adult conference, and to create a discernment resource encouraging people to explore connections between the Palestinian situation in the Holy Land and their individual and communal faith lives.
Andy Lobban, MDiv. 2011, Seminary of the Southwest. To plan and facilitate a Cursillo-style retreat for men at a San Antonio homeless shelter, providing extensive and specialized spiritual support both during and after the retreat.
The Rev. Nazir Masih, Diploma in Anglican Studies 2009, Seminary of the Southwest. An evangelical tour of the UK to gain insight and skill to develop programs to increase the independence and voice of women in the Church in Pakistan.
Peter Morris, M.D., Adjunct Faculty, Duke Divinity School. To travel to Renk Theological College in southern Sudan, to teach community health to seminarians.
The Rev. Daudi Ndhana, MTS 2009, Nashotah House. To inspire and organize the church in Tanzania to take an active role in the care of impoverished children, and children orphaned by AIDS.
Olivia Ndhana, Spouse, Nashotah House. To introduce a theological basis for family planning to faith communities in Tanzania.
Clemence Ngijoe Yanke, MTS 2010, Church Divinity School of the Pacific. To lead two mission groups from CDSP to Cameroon: 1) to pilot Christian Education methods and train teachers for formation programs for children and adults, and 2) conduct a needs assessment and organize community members for empowering women. A plan will be developed for the Diocese of Cameroon and a companion relationship established with the Diocese of Colorado.
Deborah Noonan, MDiv. 2010, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. A six-week immersion in border ministry with the Diocese of Arizona, living in Mexico and planning and leading US church delegations to border ministry.
Kirsten Spalding, Certificate of Theological Studies 2011, Church Divinity School of the Pacific. A study trip to S. Africa for participatory research into the understanding of the Eucharist, and the development of an adult formation curriculum for St. Mark's, Berkeley, CA.
The Rev. Andrew Sumani, MTS 2010, Nashotah House. To hold a workshop in Malawi, training parish representatives in HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, to enhance the church's ability to accommodate those infected and ultimately halt the spread of the disease.
The Rev. Jo Bailey Wells, Faculty, Duke Divinity School. To travel to Renk Theological College in southern Sudan, to teach Anglicanism to seminarians.
Beth Wyndham, MDiv. 2010, Seminary of the Southwest. To research, in the parish setting, and write a retreat curriculum for parents and godparents to live into the baptismal promises made on behalf of their children.
